Among the various collaborations initiated by synbrAIn, one stands out as particularly significant in the healthcare sector: its partnership with Emme Esse. Emme Esse is a company with over 40 years of experience in developing electronic solutions across various industries, including healthcare, specializing in the commercialization of high-tech diagnostic equipment and the development of solutions and services for managing medical data and images.

This collaboration between Emme Esse and synbrAIn—following a period of goal definition and application development—led to the release of MS humanAId. This software platform is designed to analyze and compare chest radiographic images of patients potentially affected by COVID-19, providing valuable support to doctors and healthcare professionals in detecting possible lung infections.

The software has already been successfully implemented thanks to a donation by the nonprofit organization Cancro Primo Aiuto to San Gerardo Hospital in Monza. A presentation event was held at the hospital (the video is available at this link), during which the General Director of ASST Monza, Mario Alparone, shared his thoughts:

“This is a software that compares cases within a database of similar images to identify situations compatible with COVID-19. It assists radiologists in detecting suspicious cases, enabling faster diagnoses and optimizing second- and third-level evaluation processes—potentially even eliminating the need for some of these assessments thanks to this tool.”

During the same event, Emme Esse’s CEO, Elisa Mattavelli, explained how the HUMANAID platform was:

“developed in collaboration with synbrAIn and Mynd, strategic partners for this product […], leveraging the expertise and experience of industry professionals, based on the real needs of frontline doctors fighting this terrible pandemic. Our approach focused on practicality, utility, and ease of use.”

synbrAIn’s role in this project was primarily focused on developing artificial intelligence models capable of identifying and segmenting key areas within medical images. These models led to the creation of a specific module within HUMANAID, named AIRX, which includes the following features:

  • Analysis and classification of chest radiographic images;
  • Identification of abnormalities;
  • Automated alerts based on severity estimation;
  • Comparison with similar cases.

Additionally, Mynd (another partner of both synbrAIn and Emme Esse) contributed by designing a user-friendly interface that ensures an excellent user experience, maintaining high usability standards.
