- AI and Nuclear Medicine: A Powerful Combination
- The Winning Solution
- A Step Towards the Future of AI in Medical Imaging
We are delighted to announce a new success in the field of medical imaging: Senticlab’s team has won the hackathon organized by the Regional Center of Excellence for Personalized Diagnosis and Artificial Intelligence in Medicine and Imaging (MEDIMAG-IA).
This achievement marks the beginning of an important collaboration with MEDIMAG-IA, aimed at developing a software solution for the automatic evaluation of bone metastases and the effectiveness of treatments for these types of conditions.
AI and Nuclear Medicine: A Powerful Combination
Nuclear medicine is a branch of medical imaging that provides functional images using radiotracers (carrier molecules labeled with radionuclides that target specific tissues or organs). These images are essential for diagnosing and monitoring various diseases, including cancer. However, analyzing nuclear images requires extensive clinical expertise and objective quantification of data.
The MEDIMAG-IA hackathon aimed to create an artificial intelligence system capable of identifying metastatic bone lesions in nuclear images and calculating their Standardized Uptake Value (SUV), an indicator of treatment response.
The Winning Solution
The Senticlab team, together with synbrAIn, participated in the hackathon with a solution based on convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and advanced image processing techniques.
Their AI-powered approach secured first place in the final rankings, outperforming all other competing teams in this challenging competition!
A Step Towards the Future of AI in Medical Imaging
We are extremely proud of this achievement, which reflects our expertise, innovation, and passion for artificial intelligence and its applications in healthcare.
A special thanks to MEDIMAG-IA for organizing such a stimulating and educational event, providing us with the opportunity to collaborate on an innovative and socially impactful project.
We will continue working towards the development of cutting-edge software solutions to enhance diagnostic accuracy and patient care.
